M&D's Wedding | Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge
Portraits of the people you love.
Wedding season is upon us once again … and we couldn’t be happier. We just got back from a beautiful wedding hosted by the sweetest couple over the May long weekend. From the moment their reception started it was clear that Maggie and Derek are dearly loved. The best part about having an opportunity to photograph a couple’s wedding guests is that we get to meet the friends and family who have supported a marriage from the very beginning. These are the people who raised, went to school with and loved the bride and groom since they were little. It’s truly inspiring to be able to create beautiful black and white portraits of the people our couples love.

Our favourite sittings in our black and white photo booth have to be families. From siblings to multiple family generations in one photo, knowing we have created a family heirloom with a click of a button is gratifying. It is such a thrill to witness the magic of these relationships unfold in front of our camera. It truly is an honour to meet people who love and care for each other so deeply. All of whom look fabulous while doing it!
My absolute favourite couples to photograph are married couples. The years of commitment backing their love is truly inspiring. I always make a point of asking a couple if they are married. If the answer is yes, I love knowing for how long. It’s not often that couples will make the time to have portraits made of themselves after their wedding day. Perhaps when the kids are young, there will be a few family photo sessions booked. As the years go on, photographs of you with your spouse are an easy thing to forget about. Too often married couples are busy taking care of their families to think about having photos done of themselves. We think this is a mistake. Children are always going to want photographs of their parents - and grandchildren will want photos of their grandparents to show their children. That’s why we think it’s important to make beautiful portraits of everyone who attended your wedding. Aunts, uncles, parents and married couples are not as likely to be taking selfies of themselves all day long like the under 30 crowd. This is an amazing opportunity for them to take home a beautiful picture from your wedding. Some of the couples below have been married for more than 30 years. Now that is truly something to look up to and admire.
And finally, we have groups of friends stop by the portrait photo booth for a portrait. We have photographed high school friends that have known each other for a decade to friends who have been in each other’s lives for more than half a century. It always brings s smile to our face knowing that we have captured every kind of meaningful relationship through our lenses at these events. Knowing that these people have a beautiful photo of the person or people they love that they can keep forever is why we do what we do.
Congratulations Maggie and Derek! Your wedding was so beautiful and we had the most amazing time photographing your family and friends. We are so honoured to have been able to create beautiful portraits of the people you love and we wish you many, many years of happiness in your marriage.
